Jamie Wilson – Coach

Jamie Progressed through youth level football in England, competing both locally and regionally at club level. Over 60 appearances across 2 seasons for Bournemouth FC as a central midfielder before the age of 22. During his time at the club, he was fortunate enough to make 3 FA Cup appearances across 2 seasons.

Recently he has made a professional appearance for the Wolues FC who played in the National League in the British Virgin Islands – after a successful trial period he was signed and scored 5 goals in 5 games and had a personal unbeaten record for the team and was a key part in the Wolues shock victory over 7-year unbeaten champions Islanders FC scoring twice in a 2-1 win.

Jamie was then invited into train with the BVI National Team, again a successful period of training led to a further opportunity – a week’s training camp in July 2018 to represent the squad in 3 international fixtures. 2 wins and a draw against Dutch and French St. Maatern and St. Barthelemy respectively saw the best run of form for the BVI in over 30 years to which he had played 90 mins in every game. Following on from this, he was selected to represent the BVI in the Concacaf Nations League to which they are competing on the international stage against the likes of Martinique, Suriname, Bonnaire and Turks and Caicos. Jamie is still currently playing in the national side with our next upcoming fixtures in March 2019 and World Cup Qualifiers later in the year.

AFC BOURNEMOUTH ID Center & Shadow Squads – Jamie was first a part of the ID center when it was founded. Both delivering and assisting within sessions and fixtures.

Before taking the role at ESSA, Jamie works with Champion Football Development, planning, delivering and reviewing football sessions in an advanced training centre in order to develop individuals technically, physically, socially and psychologically, to progress players into full time academies such as AFC Bournemouth, Southampton FC, Yeovil Town FC, etc.. Jamie’s experience from the organisation has allowed him to travel Europe and compete alongside international academies in Spain, Holland, England and many more. He has been able to observe and understand first-hand the modern footballing world and how styles may vary from country to country examples of training schedules, match tactics, individual training and commitments.  Plus, presenting and leading coach and teacher education events in delivering football and understand short and long term player development methods.

Competing in the Barcelona Youth Cup on two separate occasions as U-12 manager finishing 6th and 4th respectively with majority of players playing up an age group with others two years up. The Holland Youth Cup managing and finishing 2nd was a fantastic achievement with players competing at an U-13 age range, again with a handful of players competing up an age group. The Southampton International Cup Tournament Winners 2017, managing an unbeaten U-13’s side throughout entire competition and also proudly having one of our players awarded Player of the Tournament. Jamie feels the progress made and achievements gained have come directly from working with the players on a regular basis and understanding how their individual attributes fit into the team, being able to help cater to each individual’s learning style was vital to the success we have had as a team and I have had as a coach.

Jack has a wealth of experience and knowledge across both the UK and USA. Most notably, Jack spent time at Lincoln City and also Leicester City Football Club during their 2016 campaign when they shocked the footballing world by winning the Premier League under Manager, Claudio Ranieri. This type of exposure has allowed Jack vast opportunities in both football in the UK and more recently, soccer in the US.

Jack has spent many years in Fulton and Springfield, Missouri coaching and working predominantly at university and college level. His experience working within the NCAA D1 system will benefit the players and ESSA vastly and we are excited to get him on board with us.
